drummer/band leader/vocalist hamilton bohannon released over 20 albums in his long career, becoming one of the leading figures in 1970s disco music scene.
in 1967 he moved to detroit where he was employed by motown as the leader and arranger of bohannon & the motown sound, who provided backing for many of the label’s top acts on tour.
this is a nice 45 edit of a track taken from his 1978 album, summertime groove.
this track was sampled by j dilla, who slowed the loop down into a heavy groove and it was also sampled by chicago dj/producer paul johnson for his 1999 hit, get get down.
