Mainly known among beatheads and diggers for his huge breakbeat track Scrabble used by J Dilla and many others, belgian musician and composer René Costy (1918-1997) was a singular man. A reputed classical violinist and music teacher on the one hand, a curious jazz cat on the other. A business man and control freak, but an artist and free spirit as well. In 1962, René Costy starts working for RTBF writing countless scores for radio shows and television series before recording a series of library music LPs for specialized labels like Editions Montparnasse (Paris) and Selection Records (Brussels).
Twenty years after his passing SDBAN Records are releasing a compilation featuring 28 tracks selected from a catalogue of 400 tracks from the virtuoso, versatile and insatiable artist, including 12 unreleased tracks.
René Costy – Expectancy will be available as deluxe edition 2CD incl. 32 page booklet and gatefold 2LP on 180gr vinyl on March 3.
